If you are able to make
Choices that you like;
You know that you have chosen
What the others choose to strike.
You stand up to face
The ridicule and the scorn;
Decide that it does take
A genuine effort to be strong.
Well,
That's what I call courage!
............................................more in the book....
Always in a hurry
To save those minutes few;
Rushing, tripping, racing,
To reach a deadline new.
No time there is in any case
To stop and breathe in peace,
Savor the beautiful moment that
For work will never cease.
Friends and family that exist
Are believed to be forever;
Their absence does the mind negate,
For truth does make it shiver.
The happiness of the moment,
Is lost to speed and haste;
Oh foolish mortal ! why must you
This precious life so waste?
Silence is a friend,
Too precious to ignore;
She can hear you speak in thought,
Till you can think no more.
Kindness is her nature,
Reprimand she never will;
All your secrets she will keep
Deep trust to instill.
New ideas do emerge
When her friendship you accept;
For silence helps you grow,
Your choices to direct.
A garden once cared for,
By hands lost to time;
Lies abandoned by mankind,
With a ruthlessness unkind.
Wild grasses and nettle,
Now jostle for space;
Where the roses did once,
Rise with beauty and grace.
No flower- beds to find,
Their outlines erased;
With shrubs and weeds,
Is their entity replaced.
A bunch of small violets,
Chose this garden forlorn;
A message to give
That hope is not gone.
Darkness clouds the evening sky,
Its crimson hues concealed;
With patience true the moon does shine,
Its brilliance to reveal.
The forest is alive with sounds,
Of creatures of the night;
Birds and beasts, their kin abound,
To join the revelry in moonlight.
The path that moves in winding ways,
The forest to divide;
Is stark and lonesome night and day,
In silence does abide.
Down the hillside as you stroll
along a rough and narrow walkway,
flanking you are deodars tall;
with silence do they much convey.
Birds and bees in peace reside
in this blessed forest site;
no wonder did the sufi decide
to rest here for the longest night.
A beauty strange pervades the air;
the silence speaks with peace.
Blessed are those that come to share
a sufi’s timed release.
There are some things I can’t do without;
for a cup of tea I’ll gladly shout!
Thankfully hold the brimming mug,
warm my hands and sip and shrug;
what would life be without this brew-
Golden, amber, sweetly true?
Rejoice in the warmth
of the sunlight today;
Celebrate each moment
before it quietly slips away.
Love not for reasons,
For they change with time;
Love merely to share
A virtue so divine.
Do you need a reason
for happiness to touch your soul?
Just rejoice in every moment
before age does take its toll.
