The waves, they rose and with a roar
Banged their heads against the shore!
Frothing and seething with a rage unseen,
In hapless fury they crashed and screamed.
Time again they rose and fell,
Seemingly with a tale to tell.

Barefoot on the shore I stood,
Closed my eyes and wished I could
Understand the language of the waves
Strained to hear what they might say.
Countless tales of ages gone,
Of numerous lives in water born;
Of ships that sailed and birds that flew
And mermaid tales of love so true.
Of men who lived and those who loved,
To live a life on waters blue.

Silence, then a crashing roar!
The waves are higher , much higher now.
Anxiously I retrace my footsteps home,
Cold ,wet sand sliding between my toes;
The skies are dark,the waters wild,
Haunting questions in a breeze so mild.......

Ma: There is such tremendous power in your words. This is a beautiful poem and very well conveys the limitlessness of the Sea!
